"Troops' Gravestones Have Pentagon Slogans"

Unlike earlier wars, nearly all Arlington National Cemetery gravestones for troops killed in Iraq or Afghanistan are inscribed with the slogan-like operation names the Pentagon selected to promote public support for the conflicts. Thanks to AntiChimp for pointing out this outrage.
Families of fallen soldiers and Marines are being told they have the option to have the government-furnished headstones engraved with "Operation Enduring Freedom" or "Operation Iraqi Freedom" at no extra charge, whether they are buried in Arlington or elsewhere. A mock-up shown to many families includes the operation names.
The vast majority of military gravestones from other eras are inscribed with just the basic, required information: name, rank, military branch, date of death and, if applicable, the war and foreign country in which the person served.

It's probably not appropriate for me to laugh...but O.I.L!!! OMG>>>LOL!!!
Almost as funny as the government calim that the headstones weren't intentionally made for positive media exposure.

I heard that too, then I thought "How the hell does advertising on a gravestone make your WAR look good??"
Some of you may have noticed that one coment has been deleted up above. I don't want anyone to think I'm censoring comments. I wouldn't delete a right-wing rant about the greatness of ChimpBoy or Saint Ronnie the Dim, or another foul-mouthed attack on Bill Clinton. This is a free speech zone, but it's also a COMMERCIAL-FREE free-speech zone. I won't allow people to put ads with links to their lo-rate fucking mortgage refinancing scams here.(The only exception to this anti-capitalist policy is the selling of True Blue Liberal gear).
