". . . Another big story that was going on today was about my first meeting with Bush in June of 2004. For you all I would like to clarify a few things. First of all, I did meet with George, and that is not a secret. I have written about it and been interviewed about it. I will stand by my recounting of the meeting. His behavior was rude and inappropriate. My behavior in June of 2004 and is irrelevant to what is going on in 2005. I was in deep shock and deep grief. The grief is still there, but the shock has worn off and the deep anger has set in. And to remind everybody, a few things have happened since June of 2004: The 9/11 commission report; the Senate Intelligence report; the Duelfer WMD report; and most damaging and criminal: the Downing Street Memos. The VERY LAST THING I HAVE TO SAY ABOUT THIS IS: Why do the right wing media so assiduously scrutinize the words of a grief filled mother and ignore the words of a lying president?"
Why Indeed?

Clinton lied about Monica Lewinsky under oath; the important part of that phrase is italicized. He could have lied forever without consequences about the matter if he had not put his hand on a Bible in a legal setting.
Now Alan, ask yourself why the current President refuses to be placed under oath before any congressional commissions or grand juries investigating 9/11 or Iraq. Maybe he learned something from your whipping boy Bill.
So we go back to Clinton and his lie about the blow-job vs. Bush and his lie(s) about the WMDs which have caused 2,027 deaths (Coalition forces) as well as somewhere between 23456 and 26559 civilian deaths. While I am not defending one liar over another, consider that Clinton's lie was a tacky personal mistake while Bush's has caused untold death and destruction, and there's the rub!
Alan, first a lesson in idiomatic English; one is blind to the truth, not blind from the truth. That said, I think it's fair to say that someone here "is missing the point as usual", but I'm not that person. The quote in the post is about the press, partiularly the right-wing press, and their unwillingness to look at any of the President's questionable statements, while examining Cindy Sheehan's past statements for any evidence of flip-flopping. You know what Alan? Flip-flopping isn't a crime, and neither is lying to the American people, unless it's done under oath. It's not the courts' job to throw him in jail, and no one's asking for that. But we are responsible for having re-elected the man who dragged us to war with Iraq for the crime of Osama bin Laden's followers. It's our responsibility and it's our shame (but the press bears some of the blame for not exposing the facts behind his misstatements).
Wow - just bopped over from Pax's blog - this is a great blog! Living in the red state of Virigina, it is so refreshing to read/listen to people whose opinion I agree with.
I admire Cindy Sheenan's peaceful protest - may something larger and better than she could imagine come out of it (can we say impeachment, a girl can dream....).

Thank You Alan! Now I finally see the light. Everything always is and always has been Bill Clinton's fault! (Just try to forget for a a second that the Bushies ignored the Clinton warnings about the seriousness of bin Laden to focus on Iraq and vacations on the ranch in the summer of 2001.)
Also, you might enjoy this joke about how many Bushies it takes to screw in a lightbulb, especially # 3. "One to blame Clinton for burning out the light bulb."
