Could this be the stupidest thing Rush Limbaugh ever said?

I know it's a high bar, but when I was skimming a recent rant of Rush's entitled, "Liam Neeson: Perfect Liberal," I ran across this description of the site of the Charlie Hebdo attack:
"The attack happened in France where the cops are unarmed, where the magazine people are unarmed.  The cops are unarmed. The cops show up on bicycles..."
This is as ridiculous as describing the man who said it as "soft-spoken" and "thin" and "thoughtful" and, God forbid, "liberal."  Has he been to France? When I traveled there in the 1970s, it was the first time I had ever seen police with assault weapons. It was also the first time I saw a very visible, heavily armed, and motorized National Police force in every city and town I visited. How can we believe anything else that Rush has to say about Liam Neeson and gun control in this think piece when he gets simple facts so howlingly and completely wrong.

I can understand if Rush never wanted to visit France, but can he visit Google? Can he do a simple image search for "French Police"?

Let George Carlin Respond to Rush Limbaugh

Rush Limbaugh actually attributed Robin Williams' suicide to his liberalism:
"He had everything, everything that you would think would make you happy. But it didn’t. Now, what’s the left’s worldview in general? What is it? If you had to attach not a philosophy but an attitude to a leftist’s worldview, it’s one of pessimism and darkness, sadness. They’re never happy are they? They’re always angry about something. Not matter what they get, they’re always angry."

This vile nonsense doesn't deserve a reasoned answer about sadness and anger and clinical depression being totally different things; I feel better letting another gifted comedian who died too young reply to the stogie-sucking angry fat man hiding behind the radio microphone:
Sometimes a cigar isn't just a cigar.

Cyber Monday Has Scrambled Amazon Dot Com's Brain

Why else would they be recommending that I buy books by Sarah Palin, Rush Limbaugh, and Glenn Beck? Amazon has obviously been spending more time developing its drone air force than perfecting its famous algorithms.

This is just one more reason to continue fighting our Annual Liberal War On Christmas by buying nothing.

George Carlin tells you all about Rush Limbaugh without even mentioning his name.

Although George could be talking about some other "fat arrogant overpaid overfed overprivileged overindulged white-collar businesscriminal asshole" smoking a cigar in the following video, but it's hard not to picture Rush Limbaugh when you listen to this:

In Case You Had Any Doubts About the Republican Game Plan for Twenty Ten....

Here are the quotes of the day to remind you of the Republican game plan for 2010. Don't expect any change from 2009's stage-setting remark from the Republican Party's chief over-the-air gasbag, which appeared just before President Obama's inauguration:
I would be honored if the Drive-By Media headlined me all day long: "Limbaugh: I Hope Obama Fails." Somebody's gotta say it.
There's a preview of the coming continuing obstructionism in an article from this morning's Washington Post about the current state of California's finances. There's no reason to think that Republicans in Congress and the media will do anything more than follow Nancy Reagan's old drug advice to "Just Say No," hoping that any resulting government gridlock will be blamed on the Democrats in November:
[...] The minority party spied opportunity in fiscal collapse. If the majority failed to govern the state, then the voters would turn on them, or so the theory went.
That raises a troubling question: What happens when one of the two major parties does not see a political upside in solving problems and has the power to keep those problems from being solved?

Knowing that the writers of the right-wing blogosphere and twitterverse have already set their CAPS LOCK keys and turned off their spelling and grammar checkers in order to jump into the fray with attacks and made-up "facts" in twenty ten, I thought that it was time to start writing more regularly here at http://TrueBlueLiberal.org and I even opened up a new presence on Twitter at @TrueBlueLiberal , largely for the same reason that I started this blog in 2004: to help protect the label "Liberal" from those who have no understanding of its meaning, but are happy to hurl it as an insult.
Happy 2010.
