The One Video to Watch on the 71st Anniversary the Hiroshima Bomb.

It may have been lost in the shuffle as Trump scuffled with gold-star families and crying babies, but the most important campaign moment of the week may have been this conversation about the current Republican nominee for president and nuclear weapons that took place on MSNBC's "Morning Joe" show on Wednesday, August 3. This snippet will only take a couple of minutes of your time.

It won't be just a party blowing up if Trump is elected. Personally, I don't see how anyone concerned about the safety of the world can remain undecided about their choice for president after watching that short video.

The GOP Alternative to the International Iran Deal

The Republicans have had an alternative to the complicated nuclear deal agreed to by the US, UK, Iran, France, China, Russia, and Germany all along.

It has never changed.

John McCain even made their simplistic strategy the semi-official 21st-century theme song of the Grand Old Party when he sang "Bomb Bomb Bomb, Bomb Bomb Iran" at a South Carolina campaign appearance on April 17, 2007.

February 21 is "International Peace Symbol Day"

A piece on Truthout this morning entitled "The Peace Symbol Celebrates Its 57th Birthday, But Still No Peace" begins with this paragraph:

"In honor of the 57th anniversary of the Peace Symbol, I, Bill Berkowitz, fully understanding that I have no official standing, do not possess any super powers, and do not know anyone who will make it thus, hereby suggest that February 21, 2015 be designated as: 'International Peace Symbol Day'."

Well, I also have neither official standing nor super powers, but I have a little blog that attracts actual handfuls of viewers each day, so I'm doing my bit to direct you to Bill Berkowitz's history of the famous symbol and proclaim that it will definitely be International Peace Symbol Day for me on Saturday, and for every other February 21st to come.
